Forget Paradise
West Coast could be paradise … But even if we met them before, they’re back ! The worst inhabitants of New Zealand !
They’re tiny, they don’t make any noise, but they love to come in BIG groups … sandflies !
They’ve been biting us all night, even if we did a sandflies hunt in the van last evening, and killed more than 500 of those.
This morning they’re even worse. Waiting for us for their breakfast.
Itching, screaming, we’re leaving. Too bad for the nice walk around it. Too bad for our breakfast by the sea, we’re going back a few kilometers to find a quieter spot.
West coast probably isn’t paradise, but the landscapes are still amazing.
With lots of repellant (that don’t work), long sleeves and long pants (even under the hot sun), we’re off for a walk on the Hapuka estuary, where the water is as blue as the sky
The mountains are always here.
Still on the way north, the sandflies stops to be as bad, and it’s even better to enjoy the holidays.
